Matthew J. Olson
Matt Olson is a native of Minnesota and an alumnus of Penn State. He received his M.F.A. from the School of Visual Arts in 2012. After receiving his degree, Matt served as the shop supervisor for SoVA’s wood and metalworking facility and held the rank of assistant teaching professor, teaching courses in sculpture and 3D foundations. He has served as faculty sponsor and logistics coordinator for several B.F.A. students. His specialties include woodworking, metalworking, mixed-media fabrication, and welding, and his sculptural work has been exhibited locally and nationally. Currently, he is the facilities coordinator for the College of Arts and Architecture. According to Matt, creating an environment where people feel safe is essential, because it allows for the sharing of thoughts and ideas, as well as the transfer of knowledge.
