Raising The Coastal Barrier
This capstone explores a new approach to understanding the formation of dunes in coastal area, by using lab-based wind tunnel to simulate how different obstacles would interfere with the natural dune process. The method provides an opportunity to observe how sand moves and how the overall pattern would change without standing on a real coast. The capability to accelerate the process helps to understand different dune patterns with a variety of barriers. In this method, Sensibility is fully utilized to generate design solutions and more knowledge about the coast is gained combined with other coastal research.
