Why FRIENDS is still one of the best shows Today

Why Did Friends End? - Was Friends Canceled? - Parade: Entertainment, Recipes, Health, Life, Holidays

Happy Thursday Everyone! And welcome to another Passion Blog. This week, I’ll be focusing on the concept of friendship, and what better way to do that than by discussing the television show FRIENDS. FRIENDS debuted on television on September 22, 1994, and went on to have a ten-year run. Although this show aired far before my time, it was influential in the lives of many young people around the world.  For the first time in their lives, six close friends (Monica, Phoebe, Rachel, Chandler, Joey, and Ross) pursue independence and learn how to navigate the world of adulthood. It depicts the narrative of six New Yorkers whose lives can be complicated and strange at times, but they find comfort and support from one another to be the perfect antidote to life’s pressures.

It’s timeless theme song

“I’ll be there for you, (because you’re always there for me)”… It’s impossible to talk about Friends without bringing up these legendary lyrics, which I’m sure we’ve all heard a thousand times. This series’ opening theme tune portrays the six guys dancing, laughing, and having fun. The words of the song are about friends that are absolutely selfless and support one another in any situation. This show focused on the preservation and maintenance of Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Joey, Chandler, and Ross’s friendships. These five amigos depict an idealistic version of friendship.

For their iconic 1990s style

It’s worth noting that Rachel’s long bob hairdo, which she wore for the first two seasons, was so popular that it got its own nickname (“The Rachel”) and was later copied by hundreds of young ladies throughout the world. Friends popularized 1990s fashion, which continues to influence today’s fashion trends.

For their hilarious charcters

Monica’s psychosis, Rachel’s fashion obsession, Joey’s lovable idiocy, Chandler’s snarky comments, Ross’s bad luck in love, Phoebe’s classic songs like Smelly Cat… Each character has distinct characteristics. Friends fans grew up with these characters, frequently relating to them and their convoluted, wild lifestyles.

FRIENDS is a show that gives me a lot of comfort. Although it is a comedy and its main goal is to produce swift jokes, the program has also taught me a lot about life. To enjoy the better things in life as well as your companionship. As we traverse maturity and learn more about ourselves, having people in our lives who actually care about us and support us is critical.
