My first ever office hour as a PSU student was an interesting experience. High school made reaching out to teachers very easy, and I usually did not have to schedule a time to meet with them. During the first office hour I made, I was very nervous, and to add to this new adventure, the meeting was also on Zoom. Although online schooling has become natural, it still is odd to meet with a professor this way. In the end, I felt very refreshed and not scared to make another appointment. I did just that and made a second appointment with my English teacher.
During the second meeting, I asked her about how my overall grades are in the class (since she keeps track of them herself and not on Canvas) and she assured me that if I keep up with office hours I should be alright. Hearing this soothed some of my worries. In addition, we talked about my current essay, and again after her input, I felt much better about my English class. I know most teachers are here to help, but it is not until meeting and talking with them that I truly believe that statement. Overall, I am glad I met with my professor, and it is a skill I will continue to utilize for the next 4 plus years of college.
