Dr. Fosco was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at Penn State Hershey Medical Center. Dr. Fosco is currently a survey research analyst 

Autumn Kujawa, Ph.D.
ABC Program: 
 2016 – 2017
Dr. Kujawa is an Associate Professor of Psychology and Human Development at Vanderbilt University where she directs the Mood, Emotion, & Development Lab. Her research focuses on how children and adolescents process emotions and the development of mood disorders. Dr. Kujawa actively collaborates with the ABC Program on several research projects.

INTERNS

Rosanna Breaux, Ph.D.
ABC Program: 2016 – 2017
Dr. Rosanna Breaux is an Assistant Professor of Psychology and the Director of the Child Student Center at Virginia Tech. She also directs the Coping Skills and Learning to Manage Emotions Readily (CALMER) Lab. Her research focuses on emotional and social functioning of children and adolescents with ADHD, with a particular interest in emotion regulation.

Grace Brennan, Ph.D.
ABC Program:  2020 – 2021
Dr. Grace Brennan is a postdoctoral scholar in the Grow Up Grow Old program at Duke University. Her research focuses on the development of disinhibition and dysregulation across the lifespan.

Peter Castagna, Ph.D.
ABC Program:  2019 – 2020
Dr. Peter Castagna is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Alabama. His research examines translational research on the changes, outcomes, and the interaction between emotion regulation and executive functioning in children and adolescents across development. Dr. Castagna actively collaborates with the ABC Program on several research projects.

RESEARCH COORDINATORS

Pevitr Bansal, Ph.D.
ABC Program: 2015 – 2017

Dr. Pevitr (Pev) Bansal is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Montclair State University in New Jersey. His research examines the development and treatment of Disruptive Behavior Disorders (DBD; ADHD, ODD and CD) and callous-unemotional (CU) traits. Dr. Bansal actively collaborates with the ABC program on several research projects as well as on the Summer Treatment Program.

Brianna Bendixsen, M.A.
ABC Program: 2016 – 2017
Brianna is the co-founder and lead training faculty in the Psychedelic Research and Training Institute (PRATI). Brianna earned her master’s degree in applied psychology from Penn State Harrisburg in 2017.

Vanessa Cao, M.A.
ABC Program:  2018 – 2020

Vanessa is a doctoral student in developmental science studying with Dr. Patrick Davies at the University of Rochester. Her research focuses on externalizing disorders that cause young children to have difficulties in academic and social functioning at school and their environmental influences.

Ashley Carroll, M.A.
ABC Program:  2016 – 2018

Ashley is a data analyst at Gartner. She previously worked as research specialist at the Center for Brain Plasticity and Recovery at Georgetown University. Her research interests include changes to cognition and emotion processing after stroke as well as language development after perinatal and childhood stroke.

Amy Russel (Hoenstine), B.S.
ABC Program:  2019 – 2021

Amy is Senior Research Coordinator in Dr. Howard Aizenstein’s and Dr. Carmen Andreescu’s Geriatric Psychiatry Neuroimaging Lab at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh, PA. Her research interests are broadly focused on neural responses to trauma across the lifespan and neural links between trauma and the development of mood disorders.

Sara Mills-Huffnagle, M.S.
ABC Program:  2015 – 2018
Sara is a doctoral student in the Neuroscience and Clinical Translational Sciences Institute at the Penn State College of Medicine. She was previously a research assistant for Dr. Sarah Kawaski within the Addiction Services at the Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute (PPI). Her research interests include genetic components of maternal fetal bond as it relates to addiction and subsequent child developmental outcomes.

Urveesha Nirjar, M.A.
ABC Program:  2020 – 2022

Urveesha is a graduate student in Clinical Psychology at the University of Kentucky studying under Dr. Michelle Martel. She graduated from Teachers College, Columbia University in 2020 with a MA in Clinical Psychology. She previously served as a research assistant in several labs including BHIP at Montefiore, Children’s Day Unit at NYSPI, and the Global Mental Health Lab at TC. Urveesha is interested in research examining the impact of childhood adversity and parenting on child and adolescent mental health outcomes, with a focus on externalizing behaviors.  Outside of work, she enjoys listening to podcasts, hiking, and learning to play the ukulele.

Cameron Pothoven, B.S.
ABC Program:  2021 – 2023
Cameron is a doctoral student in Clinical Psychology at the University of Southern Mississippi. Cameron graduated from the University of Central Florida with a B.S. in Clinical Psychology and minors in statistics and cognitive sciences. He worked at the Children’s Learning Clinic and the Center for Children and Families performing research in ADHD and helping run a Summer Treatment Program. His research interests include childhood psychopathology and cognition with special focus on memory and attention. Outside of work, he enjoys the beach, swimming, and discussions on philosophy.

Delshad Shroff, M.A.
ABC Program:  2018 – 2020

Delshad is a doctoral student in clinical psychology studying with Dr. Rosanna Breaux at Virginia Tech. Her research focuses on externalizing disorders that cause young children to have difficulties in academic and social functioning at school and their environmental influences.


Avleen Walia, B.S.
ABC Program:  2020 – 2022

Avleen is a clinical psychology doctoral student studying with Dr. Sarah Francis at the University of Toledo. She researches parent-child anxiety.

Hunter Weidlich, MPH (Research Coordinator).
ABC Program: 2022 – 2024
Hunter is the data coordinator for PEDSnet at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Hunter graduated from the Penn State College of Medicine in 2023 with a master’s in public health after completing a B.S. in Biobehavioral Health at Penn State. He previously served as an Ambassador of Public Health during the COVID-19 pandemic at University Park, where he educated peers around the importance of healthy lifestyles and behaviors. His research interests include public health, epidemiology, and mental health. Outside of work, Hunter enjoys hiking, reading, and spending time with his dog.

Julia Leslie, B.S. (Research Coordinator)
ABC Program: 2021-2024
Julia is currently pursuing a physician’s assistant program. She graduated from Penn State Harrisburg in 2021 with a B.S. in Psychology. In her free time, Julia enjoys reading, photography, and spending time with her pets.

Gabriela Gonzalez, B.S. (Research Coordinator)
ABC Program: 2024
Gaby is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Developmental Psychology at Lehigh University. She graduated from Penn State University in 2023 with a double major in Rehabilitation and Family Studes and Human Development. Gaby enjoys playing tennis, reading, visiting her family abroad, and trying new places to eat.
