Work with us

Our clinic

We are currently looking to recruit research assistants to work with us on multiple research projects related to significant problems that impact adolescents and young adults—namely eating disorders, gender identity and sexuality, and suicide. Our Eating Disorders Clinic research is aimed at better understanding the development and treatment of eating disorders in children, adolescents, and young adults. Our Gender Clinic research aims to improve medical and psychological care for children and adolescents who are exploring their gender identities and sexual orientations. Our suicide research is aimed at improving the prediction, prevention, and treatment of suicidal thoughts and behaviors.

Opportunities for RAs

Research assistants will gain valuable experience with data entry, data cleaning, and data analysis in multiple platforms (Microsoft Excel, IBM SPSS, REDCap, R), score psychological assessment measures, become familiar with the IRB submission and review process, learn about different types of research methodology, and attend weekly team meetings with the principal investigators to discuss current projects, updates, new ideas, and setbacks. Opportunities to collaborate on academic posters and papers for publication are available for students who are extremely motivated, driven, and responsible. This research assistant position is a particularly good fit for students who are interested in graduate school in psychology or a related field.

Course credit, Volunteer, and Location

This internship is in Hershey, PA (1.5 hours from State College, 20 minutes from Harrisburg, 30 minutes from Lancaster), however research assistants have the opportunity to work remotely. It is a volunteer, unpaid position, that can typically be completed for course credit through your institution. This opportunity can also be extended past one semester.
