January 19 — March 18, 2016
Destination(s) without Location(s) is an exhibition of 5 artists whose work either imagines, anticipates, or remembers a place.
in this exhibition explore physical location as well as landscapes of the imagination. In some instances the artist’s home location may provide inspiration, in others distant location is the impetus, “place” is a memory and a metaphor. Location and Destination can be understood and experienced in a multitude of ways, literally, virtually and metaphorically. Memory and self, ones place in the world, inform the work and contribute to the works meaning. All the artists use personal narrative but ultimately reveal shared experience and connection that reference universal themes of interconnectedness through content and process.
Destination(s) without Location(s) is co-curated by Bonnie Levinthal, Associate Professor of Art and H. John Thompson, Gallery Director and Lecturer of Art.
