Clint Eastwood directs and stars in this film as Walt Kowalski, A Korean War veteran and retired United Auto Worker living in Michigan. Walt’s racism is painfully apparent in his interactions with the Asian, Latino, and black families living in the neighborhood. After a gang forces his young neighbor to steal Walt’s prized possession, a 1972 Ford Gran Torino, an unlikely relationship develops between Walt and his Hmong neighbors as they work to understand each other and Walt is forced to confront his own prejudices.
Gran Torino is the winner of the 2008 National Board of Review Awards for Best Actor and Best Screenplay, 2009 David Di Donatello Award for Best Foreign Film, and 2010 César Award (France) for Best Foreign Film,
