MakerSpace offers 3D Printing, Digital Tools, a Workshop, and several open Workstations that may be used for a variety of purposes. For some, it's obvious why you want to use the Reserve system. Other stations such as Post-Production feel (and are) a lot more informal, and reservation seems unnecessary.
But we ask you to reserve these no matter what, for two reasons:
|
This policy is designed to ensure everyone has an opportunity to use the MakerSpace:
-
4 HOURS PER TOOL PER DAY: This is permitted for each client, with the exception of resin prints.
- RESIN PRINT RESERVES: An entire day will allow for adequate pre-processing, printing, and clean-up time for most jobs. Overnight printing may be permitted ONLY if you are available for a 9AM clean-up reserve the morning following your printing session. We cannot accommodate overnight weekend resin printing. If in doubt, consult with us.
- 3D PRINTS UNDER 4 HOURS: Short duration prints can be processed anytime, but reserve should finish by 4PM to allow for any overnight print processing.
- 3D PRINTS OVER 4 HOURS: Longer duration prints are started no earlier than 1PM to allow after-hours printing. Consult with a monitor if you cannot start a PM job: we can start it for you!
- 3D PRINTS OVER 16 HOURS: Consult with us to organize a reserve. Weekend printing may be permitted for filament prints.
- MULTI-PRINT JOBS: Consult with the Program Coordinator for research or class work requiring multiple printing sessions.
- SIMULTANEOUS RESERVES: Multiple tools may be reserved simultaneously. Consult with us for help planning a multi-tool reserve.

WE ARE UNABLE TO SUPPORT:
*We define work for commercial purposes as done in support of a business, a place of employment, or a self-employment or freelance context. We define work for manufacturing purposes as done in editions, multiples, or any part of a design process beyond the creation of a working prototype. We can help broker access to resources that are able to support work of this nature. |
