Red Binders in the shop indicate important safety information. Material Safety Data Sheets and Tool Documentation are kept on file in a Red Binder!

Knowledge is power! An easy-to-use knowledge base gives our clients the power to work safely, efficiently, and enjoyably. MakerSpace is a place where materials meet safely create new things, so we’ve organized our references as such:

Safety Data Sheets (SDS) | Some authorities refer to these as Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), and they detail how to work safety with materials we have in stock.
- BYOM (Bring Your Own Material) | We do not typically have data sheets for materials we don’t stock. However, we do collect data sheets for materials that people bring in! Consult with staff and we’ll add a data sheet to our collection.
Safety Equipment | Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) items are listed with their required or recommended uses in the space. Stationary safety equipment is described along with any relevant User Manuals.

	Clear Safety Glasses		Required for use of any WorkShop Saws or WorkShop Tools Non-Disposable, clean after use
	Laser Safety Glasses		Required for use of Laser Cutter Non-Disposable, clean after use
	Sound Attenuation Earmuffs		Required for use of WorkShop Saws and opening Sound Attenuation Cabinet for CNC Router below Recommended if you experience any other sound sensitivity Non-Disposable, clean after use
	N95 Mask		Required for use of any WorkShop Saws or WorkShop Tools that create airborne dust Recommended if you experience any other air quality sensitivity Disposable, but we recommend keeping and labeling one as yours for reuse due to supply issues
	Hair Net		Required for use of any WorkShop Saws or WorkShop Tools if shoulder length or longer hair cannot be secured by any other means Disposable, but we recommend keeping and labeling one as yours for reuse due to supply issues
	Nitrile Gloves		Required for working with any skin irritant indicated in SOP, such as UV Resin for 3D Printing Recommended if you suspect a personal reaction issue to a stocked material referred in MSDS Disposable
	Face Shield		Recommended for splash protection from chemicals (for example, working with UV Resin) or debris generated from tools (for example, working with drill press). Consult with staff if unsure. Non-Disposable, clean after use
	Cut-Resistant Gloves		Recommended for hand processes involving non-power tools such as box cutters or draw saws. Consult with staff if unsure. NOT Recommended for power tools Non-Disposable, clean after use

NOTE: Fire Extinguishers are located inside the main entry door and in the entry hall. While administered by Abington College M+O and not illustrated here, we demonstrate their use as appropriately applied to tools.
