Woodworking
How do reserves work in the Woodworking Workshop?
People tend to work on a combination of tools when working wood: back and forth ripping on the table saw and cross-cutting on the miter saw, then drilling a hole and fastening with a driver. When you reserve Woodworking, you reserve the entire shop area, with access to all the tools described in this section — assuming you’ve received safety training! If you need training on one or more of your planned tools, sign up back-to-back slots to add the necessary time.
There are a maximum of two slots that can be signed out simultaneously in Woodworking. We’re sorry, but more than that creates a crowded safety hazard.
Students must be directly supervised when using any Stationary Saw. Faculty and staff may work unsupervised by our monitors, but must have a partner to adhere to the “buddy system” for safety. Any monitor who is certified in the shop can function as that partner, but be aware that not all monitors may be certified. Consult the Hours at the bottom of this web page to identify which monitors are available.
