The NFL has started back up as Covid-19 continues to linger over the league like an ominous cloud. With players and staff all taking part in game day routines and practices, it was only a matter of time before the virus would strike.
Multiple players on the Tennessee Titans tested positive for the virus a few weeks ago. An outbreak in the Titans locker room caused two games to be cancelled that week. The Titans played the Pittsburgh Steelers the week before the positive tests and they needed to have those players tested as well.
To try and combat these outbreaks within locker rooms, the NFL has toughened their stance on mask wearing for coaches on the sideline. There are fines for the coaches and teams not obeying these rules. For coaches, there will be a $100,000 fine and $250,000 fine per team. Six coaches have since been fined and have now been wearing the mask correctly.
With the virus still lingering and no real way to escape, the NFL has talked about adapting new possibilities. In this past week, there was a game played on a Tuesday, something that hasn’t happened since 2010. The NFL has discussed flexibility and working with new ideas this year. However, to the idea of a “bubble,” NFL executive Vice President Troy Vincent, said, “We don’t feel that is the safest course of action for us.”
Do you believe the NFL should carry on the way it has been? Or should there be more conversation about a possible bubble or remote location?
