November 3 is coming faster than ever, and this is one of the most divisive elections in history. With COVID-19 still running rampant, lockdowns, protests, and more, the decision on who to vote for may seem especially stressful.

But before you even check off the box for the next President, you need to know how to vote. It’s important to note that you have to be 18 years old, a U.S. citizen for at least 30 days, and a resident of your specific state in order to register to vote.

Register to Vote:

There are a couple of different ways to get your registration in the state of Pennsylvania.

Go to your local DMV or PennDOT:

When getting a license or state ID, you can automatically register to vote within the DMV. Your registration paper should then be sent you within the next couple of days or weeks depending on the number of pending registrations that DMV may already have.

Online:

Another way to register is online. Many websites advertise quick registration through their party, but not all of them are legitimate. A safe bet is to register through the official Pennsylvania Government website.

By Mail:

Pennsylvania also gives you the option to mail in your registration. All you have to do is download the Registration Application form, fill it out, and send it to your county registration office.

In-Person:

Go to your local county registration office and register there. You can find your Pennsylvania location through this link. If all you need to do is check on your registration, then simply go to the Pennsylvania Government website and click on check my registration status.

How to Vote:

With the threats of the virus still up in the air, you may be unsure of whether to vote by mail or in person. If that is the case for you then there are many options to take a look at.

By Mail or Absentee:

In order to vote by mail or request an absentee ballot, you first have to fill out the application. In order to do so, either mail in your application or fill it out online through the Pennsylvania Voter Services Website. If sending it through the mail, download the form and send it to your local registration office. Then, all you have to do is wait to get your physical ballot, follow the instructions carefully, and send it back to the listed address.

In-Person:

If you’re already registered, all you have to do is find your polling location, which you can do at the Find Your Polling Place page on the Pennsylvania Voter Services Website. If you’re a first-time voter, be sure to bring a photo ID with you to the polls, while all voters should bring their registration slip.

Remember, you do have the option to vote early, which is something you might want to consider with a predicted high-volume turnout. It is also important to carefully research and observe each candidate so that you choose someone who supports you and your family the best.

No matter who you’re voting for, though, this election is bound to be one of the most important ones we’ve ever had. With so many issues arising, it is important that we choose who we see fit to lead this country, no matter the party.
