After 128 years of being open, Reading Terminal Market is reaching out to Philadelphians for help. Reading Terminal Market has been serving Philadelphia since 1893. They have started a GoFundMe and their goal is $250,000 USD to remain open and they are already halfway to their goal. Reading Terminal Market is an iconic and historic place for the residents of Philadelphia. They have almost 80 independent businesses within this market. The market is home to many different varieties of goods, from fresh produce, unique candy, flowers and staple restaurants. 

According to their GoFundMe, 30% of their business comes from tourists, but due to COVID-19 the city of Philadelphia had to cancel many events and conventions, creating a major economical impact on Reading Terminal Market. Despite this they have remained open since March throughout this pandemic. COVID-19 is taking a huge toll on businesses around the world, but when it affects a very well known and historical business in your community you can take action.

The smallest donation would help save Reading Terminal Market, and if you are unable to donate and are in the area, consider stopping in and purchasing something in person. Reading Terminal Market is offering discounted parking at two locations to encourage in-person visits at 11th & Arch Street Hilton Garage and 12th & Filbert Street Parkway Garage and must be validated with merchants during purchases. They are offering curbside pickup and free delivery to certain areas. They also have implemented precautions and safety measures to follow the COVID-19 guidelines available on their website. Their hours are Monday through Saturday 8am – 6pm and Sunday 9am-4pm but please be aware that all Pennsylvania Dutch businesses are closed on Sundays.
