COVID-19 has left many Americans stuck at home, which was the driving force behind Paramount creating their own streaming service called Paramount Plus. This service is competing against others such as Disney Plus, Apple TV Plus, and Amazon Prime Video, to name a few.
Paramount Plus is now taking over CBS All Access, MTV, Comedy Central and includes original movies. The price is starting at $6 for an ad-supported subscription and ad-free streaming is $10 per month. It is launching Thursday, March 11 in the United States, Canada, and 18 Latin American countries. This streaming service will expand to Europe and Australia on March 25.
The service will be available on almost all devices including Apple and Android.
Paramount Plus has live news, sports, on-demand shows and movies. The services most popular show, Yellowstone, will no longer be available because it is now streaming on another platform.
Paramount Plus made accommodations for users who were already CBS All Access subscribers, allowing their membership to transfer over.
Its streaming debut will begin with The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run. The service notes that they will stream movies from Paramount Pictures 35-45 days after they are shown in theaters. This service is running on nostalgia because it offers almost every old Nickelodeon show.
They offer a range of titles from scripted dramas to reality television to kids’ shows. Some of the most popular titles available include Star Trek and The Twilight Zone. The service has 30,000 episodes of TV, 2,500 movies and 36 original series coming this year.
