COVID-19 has brought a lot of hardship to students searching for jobs and internships as many companies are not open or even back in their offices. Many students think that there are fewer opportunities because of this reason, but the opposite is true.
Many companies out there are hiring full-time, part-time, and internship positions. It is more common to find paid internships now because companies need people and understand the struggles of this pandemic, especially for students.
But where can you look for these opportunities? Here are some places to start your search:
Nittany Lion Careers
Nittany Lion Careers is one of the best places to start your career search as a Penn State Student. The opportunities posted there are places where PSU students have the best chance to find something. Workshops and events to help guide you are also available.
Career Fairs
Careers fairs are a great way to network with employers and search for opportunities. Connecting with employers one-on-one at these events can even bring you job offers on the spot! Career fairs can be found on the Career & Professional Development’s website, or even through a google search.
Career Counselors
Your career counselor can help with so much more than editing and reviewing cover letters and resumes. They can help you search for jobs as well! Have a conversation about your job interests with your counselor and they will be more than willing to help you prepare.
Outside of the Career & Professional Development, a Google search is even a great place to begin. Google internships in your major to find how much more is out there. For example, “communications internships summer 2021.”
Though the COVID-19 pandemic is still on-going, it is important to remember that there are still opportunities out there.
