After missing their 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Penn State Abington baseball put their cleats back on to kick off their 2021 campaign at a 4-1 record.
The season started on March 14 with a double header against Immaculata University. The first game saw the Nittany Lions jump out red hot, producing 9 runs in just the 2nd inning. Penn State would go on to win 12-6 in the first game of the doubleheader, but falling in the second game 15-3.
Penn State Abington would go on to face Cabrini University in their next game, handing them a heavy 15-8 loss. This Nittany Lions team has no problem producing runs, as they have knocked in 30 in 3 games played.
The Nittany Lions would then host The College of New Jersey in their first home game of the season. Senior Ryan McCarty threw for 5.0 innings, posting 8 strikeouts and allowing just 2 hits. Penn State would go on to win this game 8-1.
The Nittany Lions’ most recent game came against Rowan University, where they narrowly escaped with a 9-8 victory. A back and forth 9th inning ultimately had Penn State Abington walk-off on a hit by pitch with the bases loaded.
Their last 8 games have been subject to postponement.
The Nittany Lions will look to continue their hot start as their next game on April 14 is against one of our satellite campuses, Penn State Berks.
