Penn State Abington Helps Students Explore Their Future

Brianna DiMaio

For students who are in need of a job or internship, but don’t know how or where to start, Penn State Abington can help. Whether the student is a freshman or a graduating senior, Penn State Abington offers many events and resources that help students gain career and professional development.

All students can seek help from the Career & Professional Development (CPD) at Penn State Abington which helps students to achieve internships, employment that is available on or off-campus and offers appointments with career advisors.

Located on the Nittany Lion Careers website, three options are given to students: Employers, Current Students, and Job-Seeking Alumni. If a student at Penn State is pursuing employment, they can click on the “Current Students” tab in which students can input information of what kind of job they are seeking.

However, if students at Abington don’t have a resume or need help creating one, students can find resources on Penn State Abington’s Engage website, where they offer a resume-building workshop hosted by the Career & Profession Development Department. They have an event on October 11, 2021, between 1:30-2:30 pm, and students are required to register before attending the event located on the Engage website.

Another great resource Abington has for students is a website dedicated to finding internships that are offered in the U.S. and internationally. Penn State students can access internships through the internships.com and JobBox website, which are both listed on the CPD’s website.

The difference between the two is internship.com offers internships globally while JobBox offers internships located near campus through job companies.

Students can also go to the Careers & Professional Development Center to schedule an appointment to get their resume or cover letter looked at. Penn State allows students to meet with a career counselor to talk about majors and internships as well.

Penn State Abington welcomes all students to take advantage of the helpful information they provided. By doing so, students will have the chance to explore their future.
