If you happen to be someone who enjoys planning harvest season themed activities or events to attend when autumn comes around, here are five options to choose from:

1. Visit an orchard. In Pennsylvania, specifically near the Philadelphia area, there are several to choose from: Solebury Orchards, Indian Orchards Farm, Styer Orchard Inc. and Linvilla Orchards are just a few choices nearby that also seem to have been well-reviewed online (all between four and five stars).

2. Bake something Fall-y If you want to visit an orchard this fall or just bake something with in-season ingredients, apples and key-limes are two fruits that can be used for making seasonal fall pies. Whether you decide to find the ingredients at an orchard, farmer’s market, or local grocery store, autumn is the time of year for ripe apple pies and key lime pies especially when baked at home.

3. If you are someone who enjoys the crisp cool change in the air by camping, hiking or biking out in nature, there are a multitude of national parks in Pennsylvania, let alone Montgomery county, to explore. Wissahickon Valley Park, Fort Washington State Park, and Ridley Creek State Park are three options in the southeast Pennsylvania area.

4. With the temperature dropping, waiting in lines at amusement parks such as Dorney Park could be the ticket for an upcoming weekend. If you manage to schedule your visit on a select October evening when Dorney’s Halloween Haunt event is taking place, there will be additional horror attractions available, as well as staff dressed up in costumes roaming the grounds to frighten visitors and provide a spooky atmosphere after dark.

5. The Museum of the American Revolution in Philadelphia has multiple upcoming events throughout the rest of October, including the hybrid-virtual guest speaker event with Dr. Gordon S. Wood on October 26th and a Halloween weekend with the museum on the 30th, with additional details on their website.
