Although the Philadelphia Phillies finished their season around the beginning of October, Bryce Harper continues to rack up awards. Following a historical record of 82-80, the Phillies finished off the season with one of the best records in the franchise’s history and earned 2nd place in the NL East. With Harper’s stats, it is easy to see how he helped lead the Phillies to this place and earned these recent awards.
In the 2021 season, the Phillies had a winning percentage of .506, their home game record 47-34, and their away game record at 35-46. Although they won most of their games as seen in their overall record, in the last ten games of their season, they fell behind with the record being 4-6, losing the last two games to the Atlanta Braves, resulting in their elimination from the playoffs and ending their season.
Harper himself had a batting average of .309 and an on-base percentage of .429 during the 2021 season, with a total of 151 hits, he had 42 doubles, 1 triple, 35 homeruns, and 84 RBI’s. He was 7th in the league for the best batting average, and 2nd for the best fielding percentage as a right fielder.
Harper was awarded 1st for having the top on-base slugging percentage at 1.044, and 1st for having a top slugging percentage at .615. He also took home the 2021 Silver Slugger award and NL’s Outstanding Player Award a month after the season ended.
Harper has proven to be rightfully deserving of these awards not only throughout the 2021 season, but since his arrival to Philadelphia in 2019. These awards and the statistics just go to show how much of a gift he has been to the city of Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Phillies.
