Glancing over climate change and veganism, one may not think they’re connected. The reality of the matter is they are, in more ways than one.
Climate change is impacting the Earth, with temperature and sea levels rising and icecaps melting. According to the UN “Fossil fuels are by far the largest contributor to the greenhouse gas emissions that cause climate change, which poses many risks to all forms of life on Earth.” These are just a few ways human beings are causing our planet to be negatively affected by day-to-day activities, and the list goes on.
Veganism is a diet that doesn’t partake in any animal-based products, from honey to dairy and meat. This lifestyle has the potential to stop many consequences of climate change such as reduce greenhouse-gas emissions and stopping livestock emissions, and conserving water. PETA explains that “animal agriculture is responsible for more greenhouse gases than all of the world’s transportation systems combined.” One problem that Penn State Students may come across is the availability of vegan options.
There is a vegan option available for any Penn State Abington students who may be interested in exploring veganism and helping Planet Earth out one day at a time. Luhv vegan bistro is in Hatboro, just 15 minutes away from the campus, offering plant-based options dairy, egg and peanut free for vegan or non-vegan customers! This tiny restaurant is the closest vegan alternative apart from center city Philadelphia and it’s right down the road. So, whether it’s to grab a quick lunch after class or a sit-down dinner, Luhv vegan bistro is here to cater to whatever request an individual may have.
