Abington’s Baseball Program Works Villanova’s ‘Hoops Mania’ Event

Abington’s baseball team helped fundraise for the upcoming season by working the Hoops Mania event hosted by Villanova on October 1st.

Almost all current members of the team attended the fundraiser working security and scanning tickets. The event kicks off Villanova’s season by introducing the men’s and women’s basketball teams. Rapper and Philadelphia native Meek Mill capped off the night by performing for a packed house.

Sarah Sweeny of The Villanovan says that “Hoops Mania is nothing if not the ultimate ‘Nova tradition.” Experiencing this first hand was an experience that many members of Abington’s baseball program will not soon forget.

“Meek’s performance was electric,” says senior pitcher Luke Falcon. “Seeing the way the crowd fed off of his energy was extremely memorable.”

Senior Josh Baar had the opportunity to experience the performance from right next to the stage. “Meek is one of my all time favorite artists.” He says. “To be able to witness that from where I was at was sort of out of body.”

This is far from the last fundraiser the team will be working during the fall. They look to help raise more money for the program next weekend by working the Villanova football game.
