On April 15th at 2pm there was a 9-hour charity livestream on twitch.com hosted by the Penn State Esports club.
I emailed SparklezJ, an organizor for the event, who is also an officer at the Penn State Esports club. According to SparklezJ the event “is a Twitch stream run by Gamers4Charity, a club run by Penn State students. Gamers4Charity is a division of ExtraLife, an international charity run by gamers that aids hospitals in the Children’s Miracle Network. Our club sponsors Penn State Children’s Health.
The model is pretty simple; basically viewers hop onto the stream to watch the gameplay and make donations to the sponsored charity while watching the stream.” They raised a total of $1,086.52 and all proceeds benefited Penn State Health Children’s Hospital.
The event which lasted a little over 9 hours started off with the game Fortnite. They played it for about 3 hours
