Looking for volunteer opportunities near campus? There are many places looking for your help!

Volunteering has many benefits, such as opportunities to build your resume and advance your career and opportunities to build connections and help your community.

Whether you’re looking for volunteer opportunities to help your community, an activity to do in your free time, or an opportunity to build your resume. There are many places to volunteer right near the PSU Abington Campus!

Benefits of volunteering

1. Building your resume and advancing your career

Volunteering can help you build your resume and help with future employment. Adding volunteer experience to your resume can help put you ahead of the competition for a job. According to Jeanne Segal and Lawrence Robinson from HelpGuide, “Volunteering gives you the opportunity to practice important skills used in the workplace, such as teamwork, communication, problem solving, project planning, task management, and organization.”

2. Building connections and community

Volunteering can help you to build connections with friends that you already have and help to make new friends along the way. It can help to make your community stronger and help those in need within the community. “One of the best ways to make friends and strengthen existing relationships is to commit to a shared activity together,” Segal and Robinson state. “Volunteering gives you the opportunity to practice and develop your social skills, since you are meeting regularly with a group of people with common interests.”
