The deadline for Penn State Abington students to enroll in classes for the upcoming Spring 2024 semester is January 7. If the classes you wished to enroll in were already filled or the classes you need to take do not fit your schedule, taking classes with World Campus is something to consider.

World Campus has more than 20,000 students enrolled and is the second biggest Penn State campus. The difference between World Campus and all the other Penn State campuses is that all the classes are all done online. There are more than 175 degrees and certificates offered, all of which are taught by Penn State professors.

To see what classes are available you’ll first want to log in to LionPATH. After logging in, click on “Find Classes” in the upper right-hand corner.  Under the campus selection, select World campus.  After this you can search for classes the same way you would for classes at  Penn State Abington.

Penn State Abington is the home campus for students here, so they will need permission to enroll in World Campus classes. Students must send a request like they would if they were trying to enroll in classes at any branch campus other than the one they are assigned to. After selecting a class, send an email to registration@worldcampus.psu.edu from your Penn State email address with the course you are requesting to enroll in.

World Campus will start to accept requests a week prior to the start of the semester. This allows students assigned to World Campus to have priority in enrolling in a class before it reaches capacity. However, requests can be fulfilled much sooner than the week prior to the beginning of the semester depending on the class and its capacity.

World Campus classes post the coursework online for the week, and the assignments are due that Sunday. This can be beneficial for students who have a heavy course workload in a particular semester or those who are balancing work and school. It allows students to manage their time and complete the work at their own pace for a particular class instead of having assignments due throughout the week.

If you are unable to enroll in a class that would fit your schedule on a particular time or day, World Campus is an option for you. Taking the class online without having restraints on the time and day the class is taken, allows students to complete the work during a time that fits their schedule.

The other benefit for Penn State Abington students taking a class at World Campus is that there are more classes available.  If a class you want to enroll in has already been filled or the classes offered do not seem appealing, looking through what classes World Campus offers may be a solution.  That way you are not forced to take a class you are not interested in.
