Michael Mohn, father to Justin Mohn, was found dead in his home after a disturbing, fourteen minute, politically charged video of his son surfaced on YouTube. In the video, Justin refers to himself as “the Messiah ” and “the new President of the United States by Martial Law” while holding up his fathers decapitated head. This recent event has left the city of Levittown shocked and afraid of the future now that something this heinous has happened so close to home.

Residents of Levittown have been experiencing pure chaos in the aftermath of a disturbing video that surfaced in late January. After speaking with some of the community, it has become clear that this act has left the city anxious for the future of their safety.

During this time of mourning, confusion, and anxiety, several residents have come forward expressing their concerns for the future and living in a town navigating the unthinkable.

Zach Prout, a fellow Levittown resident of twenty three years has also commented on the fourteen minute long YouTube video posted by Justin Mohn moments after committing the murder and decapitation of his father. Prout states, “it was the most disturbing video I have ever seen. He had made comments pertaining to citizens attacking FBI agents and local law enforcement, and that made my heart drop as I have a family that is a part of that group. It didn’t seem as though he had any remorse or any emotion at all. He lived a block away from where I work and I can only think about whether or not I had ever run into him. You never think these things can happen so close to home until they do.”

Kerry Cossman, a resident and nurse of the Levittown community of 50 years, also commented on the heinous event. “I have never seen anything like it. You watch these kinds of things in true crime documentaries, scary movies, but you never think those things could be reality- you never think those kinds of things could happen down the street. I couldn’t sleep for days knowing that nightmares would be awaiting me- it is a helpless and horrifying feeling. It is scary to think that I have to raise my kids in a world like this.”

Justin Mohn is part of the alumni at Penn State and Neshaminy high school, as well as Levittown resident Meghan Weed. She commented, “He is a little older than me, so I have never met him, but it’s eerie to think that we have had the same teachers and walked down the same halls. We went to the same high school and grew up in the same neighborhood, but we have obviously implemented very different values within our lives and have gone down very different paths. You can grow up next to someone, you can learn the same things, you can go to the same places, but they are going to pave their own paths- as scary as that is.”

According to LevittownNow.com, a local newsletter popular among the community, Tom Sofield reports that thirty-three year old Justin Mohn is currently being held without bail. Sofield reports that Justin Mohns’ charges include “murder of the first degree, abuse of a corpse, and possession of an instrument of crime with intent.”

Solfield also reported on LevittownNow.com that Justin Mohn had sued the federal government after receiving his bachelor’s degree in business management at Penn State. “In court filings reviewed by this news organization, Mohn, a 2014 graduate of Penn State for business management, sued the federal government four times for allowing him to borrow money for college. He complained in his court cases that he was an over educated white man who couldn’t pay back his loans.”

As days pass, Levittown residents are keeping themselves updated on this case with their windows and doors locked, as well as keeping the other members of the Mohn family in their thoughts and prayers.

Bill Keyser, a newly retired constable that has worked and lived in Levittown for forty years has expressed his concerns with something this heinous happening right down the street. Keyser comments, “until hearing of this horrific incident, I haven’t heard of a crime around here this bad since the sixties. This has turned Levittown residents upside down. A thousand questions run through your mind and you can only wonder, ‘Do you really know your neighbor?’”
