Mother’s day is just around the corner on Sunday, May 12th. If you’re still searching for a gift to get your mom or parent for mother’s day you’re in luck! As college students we’re used to being on a budget and finding affordable gifts for any holiday can be a challenge. 

Mother’s day is an important day for many college student’s to celebrate the special people in their lives. Whether you’re getting a present for your mom, dad, grandparent, etc. to celebrate them on that special day, this list will hopefully inspire you to get them a special gift that won’t break the bank. 

1. Homemade baked goods: If you’re searching for an easy and cheap gift, making homemade desserts are a perfect gift for mother’s day. You can make a variety of gifts from cookies, to cakes, to brownies, to pastries. Buying ingredients at the grocery store and making it at home with your siblings, friends, etc. will mean a lot to your mom and make it memorable for her. 
2. Homemade jewelry: If you’re looking for a special gift and your mom likes to wear jewelry this can be a sentimental gift that she will cherish forever. Craft stores like Michael’s will have all the supplies and you can have fun making jewelry such as necklaces, earrings, bracelets, etc. There are tutorials on how to make whatever type of jewelry you’d like on Youtube. 
3. Thrift shop finds: There are so many special and affordable gifts you can find your parent for mother’s day at the thrift shop. There are multiple thrift stores near campus that have unique finds. Whether you’re looking for clothing, cookware, books, jewelry, glassware, etc. there is something for everyone!
4. Personalized Etsy gifts: If you’re looking for a gift but don’t have the time to make one yourself, Etsy has some affordable gifts that you can add personalization to. They have t-shirts, mugs, keychains, wallets, etc. that you can add your mom’s name or picture to.
