Brain Kennedy, Alec Tyson, and Emily Saks, all writers for Pew Research Center, conducted a survey which found that at least 27% of Americans said they interacted with AI  several times per day.

These encounters can be from internet searches, looking at a smart watch, or texting your friend.  Some people are excited for AI to have a bigger picture in their lives, but not everybody is. 38% of respondents said they were more nervous about the situation, and 46% felt an equal mix of excitement and concern.

The most common AI-powered websites and everyday tasks include search engines, social media, online shopping, emails, and autocorrect. A Google, search, for example, uses AI by coming up with questions that you didn’t think of yet. This form of AI follows through in most if not all media platforms, they are trying to help your brain by completing your thought.

Many survey respondents could identify some AI applications, but fewer could explain how they work. Artificial intelligence, a ubiquitous force in our lives, is more prevalent than most people realize. But what is artificial intelligence?

Artificial intelligence, or AI, is a branch of computer science that is supposed to replicate the decision-making of a human’s thoughts through algorithms within your computer. Sales force, an AI generated business improver, demonstrates the main concepts of AI and how it is integrated into our lives on a day-to-day basis.

AI, with its vast potential, could revolutionize our world in the coming years. Nokia, a technology company, discusses how AI has potential, but most people fear that it will take over the world in some way. The biggest fear that seems to come into play revolves around what we have seen in movies such as The Terminator and Minority Report, which both revolve around technology taking over humanity.

Like all powerful tools, AI can be taken for granted and used for nefarious purposes. AI can be used to start issues such as Bias, Cyber security threats, Data Privacy, Job losses, Misinformation, and manipulation of news. Rina Caballer from IBM discusses these topics in-depth and more things to be wary about while supporting and using AI.

AI is not for everyone, but it is something to be aware of, given how fast it is growing currently and the potential for it to grow even more in our newer generations.
