What the Athletic Building Offers

Athletic Building

Penn State Abington offers a plethora of sports and intramural sports for students to take advantage of, but one issue students might come across is the restrictive scheduling of sports. In this case students could look to the Athletic Building features a cardio room, weight room,  basketball courts, and tennis courts, all open between 8-5 PM. With newly purchased equipment and refurbished rooms, the Athletic Building might be a viable option for you.

Weight Room: The weight room should have ample equipment for you to get a session in. You’ll find your usual gym machines and equipment here including cables, dumbbells, benches,  power cages, and more. The room isn’t big, but normally this doesn’t become an issue.

Cardio Room: The cardio room offers a handful of treadmills, ellipticals, bikes and a stairs machine too. Anyone looking to bring their own matts to school can also use them in here, as there’s some space here for yoga, ab workouts, etc.

Basketball Court: The basketball court offers one full court and a total of 6 rims, giving it an ample amount of room to get some shots up or a game going.

Lockers and Showers: The lockers are free for anyone to use. Students can store their bags here while working out and keep their gym equipment/clothes here while in class. You do need to bring your own lock though as the school does not offer locks.

The showers will probably be the biggest issue for most people. They’re open so you won’t have any privacy while showering. A few ways to get around this issue is to keep your sessions short, or workout after your classes are done.

The Athletic Building is a great place for you to get in a quick but efficient workout while being on campus. Be safe and good luck on your workout journey!
