The Penn State Abington Chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success has invited new members. Invitations like these are always appealing, but learning more about this group can help make the decision whether to join or not.

According to the website’s “about” page, they are an organization that “provides a life-changing leadership program” with goals of helping students to achieve growth, both personally and career-oriented. They boast they are the nation’s largest accredited leadership society. Members are nominated based on either academic standing or leadership potential. They claim candidacy is a “nationally recognized achievement of honorable distinction.”

According to their FAQ page, nominated members pay a one-time fee of $95 when applying to join the organization. This membership does not expire and does not need to be renewed.

As the name of the program suggests, they are aiming to create leaders out of those who join their program, advertising a five-step, skill-building leadership program. To be fully inducted into the society, and therefore gain full access to the benefits, you need to complete an orientation, attend a Leadership Training Day, watch three speaker broadcast events, and attend three success networking team meetings.

Member benefits, displayed here, include mentorship, access to scholarships and rewards which, according to their website, range from “$500 – $7,500 each, totaling over $400,000 per year.” They also list access to employers seeking to hire NSLS members, community events, and discounts at many stores including Target, HP, HelloFresh, and Better Help.

That is a quick summary of the program and what it does. If you wish to know more about them, there is of course their website, but they also list their contact details here. If you want to join, the membership deadline for fall is  October 9th.
