As many of you know, books are being banned and/or challenged in increasing numbers across the country. These bans are, for the most part, politically motivated and discriminatory attempts to control our narratives, perspectives, and identities. It should also be mentioned that book banning is a significant issue in this year’s presidential election. The Banned Book Reading event gives students, faculty, and staff an opportunity to celebrate our freedom to read and to discuss pressing issues concerning censorship, free speech, and open dialogue. . . . . The event will be from 12:15PM-1:15PM, September 25th, on the Sutherland Plaza. Book selections will be available to read, or students can bring their own. . . . . This event is sponsored by the Abington Review, the English Program, and the Abington College Library.
