Being a college student is hard. Navigating the challenges of student life has become even more difficult within the pandemic’s current realities. Isolation, stress, and grief experienced during COVID-19 has not only tested, but also strengthened the resilience of Abington students in new ways. Building new connections or renewing idling ones may feel like a formidable challenge for many students from across the college’s diverse community, whether Fall 2021 marks the first or the final semester on campus. Starting in mid-October, CAPS is offering an 8-week interpersonal process group, “(Re)Connecting in College During a Pandemic”, that will focus on exploring themes of connection/reconnection in student life under a pandemic.. . . . Through sharing and collaborating in a private space facilitated by CAPS licensed staff, group members will have opportunities to gain deeper understandings of self and others. Group membership is limited to a max of 10 students. Members will be expected to honor a commitment to consistent participation and to each other’s privacy. Group admission is pending a screening by CAPS licensed staff. To request a screening, please email abingtoncaps@psu.edu.
