Influences & Factors on Business Students Choice of Major at Penn State Abington

Abstract

This project seeks to discover how gender, family, and mindset affects a student’s decision to major in accounting, finance, and other business fields. The goal is to see which demographic and sociological factors students identify as the most influential in their major selection decisions.

About the Presenters:

Grant Leiby is a Junior majoring in Accounting at Penn State Abington. He would like to continue on
to receive his master’s in accounting and become a Certified Public Accountant.
Kelly Rearick is a senior who is a transfer student. She received her associate degree in accounting from Bucks County Community College in 2017 and will be graduating in December. She always dreamed of being a Penn Stater and is excited to have been asked to be part of this research with an amazing group of professors and peers.
Aaron Yuan is an undergraduate student at Penn State Abington. He is currently pursuing a bachelor’s in accounting with plans to pursue a one-year MAcc to satisfy the 150 credits for the CPA exam.
