Hey PLA-ers!
Last week, a few PLA students and I had the awesome opportunity to meet Walt Rakowich over zoom to learn more about his leadership journey and gain new insights into his book, Transfluence! If you have not yet read the book (or can’t remember if you have read it because, like me, you remember covers and content not titles), I included a photo below.
Like all leadership books, Rakowich shares a bit about his personal experience in leadership and offers advice that can be used across a large variety of leadership situations and environments. In my blog today, I want to share his 3H Core concept which he described to us as “an opportunity to build trust.”

Humility, Honesty, and Heart (although he often interchanged heart with humanness)

On its own, emphasizing these three things as a leader is a very useful leadership strategy (if you can even call the genuine nature of the 3H Core a “strategy”) to gain the trust and respect of those around you. But, sfter hearing Rakowich share his story, I am so much more impressed with the way he discovered and learned to articulate these values which have made him into a successful leader.

If you haven’t read Transfluence, are interested in his podcast Off the Rak (which includes an episode featuring Dr. Bendapudi), or if you’re just interested in learning more about this awesome Penn Stater, he has a website: waltrakowich.com. I definitely encourage you to check it out!
