Each week, I find it helpful to list a challenge and a success from the week, so I will be doing that here.
The biggest challenge this week, not necessarily for me but for the organization as a whole, is that we are preparing for the arrival of fellowship groups from Latin America, and we discovered today that the rooms where these fellows are housed have not been properly cleaned and/or prepared by the cleaning staff. This is a big deal, since the fellows have traveled a long way and will be in these rooms for the next week while they work on their businesses. This has made it so that my supervisor and other staff members are noticeably stressed and slightly overwhelmed. I’m sure that we will figure it out, but it’s just a lot to handle at the last minute!
The biggest success was that I continued to get incorporated into the rest of my organization’s team, even sitting in on a full team meeting that included the CEO of the organization. The only weird thing is that these full team meetings happen every week, so I’m not sure why it took four weeks for me to go to one. Overall, however, I’ve gotten to know more people by name and am working on a variety of tasks that allows me to interact with more people than before.
