Expectations for my final semester I’m hoping that this final semester is good to me. I think the work load is manageable, but I as I am preparing for graduate school and my life as an (older) adult, I’m feeling pretty nervous. Right now, it’s time to enjoy my last semester…go out and have fun. But, I also need to work and maintain good grades and a great work ethic to build for my future. Is it possible to manage both? Of course…I just need to figure out how. Right now, I’m only taking four classes which is light compared to taking 7-8 each semester since sophomore year. I feel like I’ll have more time to take care of myself, indulge in books I’ve been wanting to read for months. With so much more time, I feel like I can do so much. Does anyone else feel this way?

Senior Season

It is both frightening and exciting that I am experiencing my last year at Penn State. It is frightening because time has flew by so quickly. I remember just moving into south halls the summer before my official start as a first year student. Then I remember when it...

We Are… the Six Percent.

Here, at University Park’s campus Black students make up six percent of the total campus population. This is an issue because for a university that prides itself in what they call diversity and inclusion, we have no numbers to prove this. To further demonstrate who is...

Philadelphia Needed This Win.

I don’t watch football, but Philadelphia needed this win. My home city needed to be put on the map and looked at. The story about the underdog may be cliche, but there are good lessons in it. The person you least expect to succeed always comes out on top and the...

Do Allies Exist?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but…. ain’t no allies, sis. Anti- blackness is global currency. Anti-LGBTQ+ is global currency.  It’s stronger than the dollar and has remained steady for more than three centuries. So depending on or expecting non-Black...
