July 30, 2020 – 11AM ET – Embedding the library in your online course: Librarian tips and strategies
Description: Your librarians are ready to help you in your online course! Join Torrie Raish, Penn State’s World Campus Librarian, and Ellysa Cahoy, Penn State Education Librarian, for a discussion on how the library can help your online students access, evaluate, and use the information they need. Torrie and Ellysa will share their experiences as librarians embedded in online courses at Penn State and will explain best practices for embedding the library in an online learning environment.
Presenters:
Ellysa Stern Cahoy is an Education Librarian and the Assistant Director of the Pennsylvania Center for the Book in the Penn State University Libraries at University Park. She has been working with online students for nearly twenty years at Penn State, and her publications include ‘Meeting the Needs of Remote Library Users’ and ‘Faculty Perspectives on e-Learners’ Library Research Needs’ (both with Lesley Moyo).
Victoria Raish is the Online Learning Librarian for Penn State University. She quite literally thinks about how distance and remote students access and use the library on a daily basis. She is particularly interested in the student experience and promoting the standard of entitlement access. She also has expertise and publishes in microlearning and digital badges.
