About Me

My name is Adam Herring. I am currently a Lecturer and Assistant Laboratory Director for general chemistry classes at Penn State – University Park. This involves teaching general chemistry laboratory courses (e.g. CHEM 111 and CHEM 113) as well as supervising the instruction via graduate student teaching assistants. Some of my other responsibilities include teaching CHEM 108 (Problem Solving in General Chemistry), CHEM 110 (Principles of Chemistry), CHEM 130 (Introduction to General, Organic, and Biochemistry), and SC 220 (Principles and Strategies for Effective STEM Learning I). I earned a B.S. in Chemistry Education from Brigham Young University- Provo. I graduated with a Masters of Education in Higher Education (Student Affairs option) through the department of Education Policy Studies at Penn State World Campus in December 2020. I have been a Penn Stater since 2015.

I am a proud father of three rambunctious boys and enjoy reading (mostly Star Wars novels and other fantasy books), singing, and playing the piano and organ. I have served in my local community as Scoutmaster for BSA Troop 42, and in various volunteer positions in my church (organist, choir director, youth group leader, Young Men’s board presidency member).
