In this unit, we will review the various methods that we use to engage our students to enhance their Penn State experience. We will also introduce you to how these methods relate to academic advising, including the following: student communications, social media, student blog, midpoint and graduation motivator letters, student clubs, organizations, and events.
Learning Objectives
After going through Lesson 15, advising staff will be able to do the following:
- understand how Academic Advising and Student Disability Services builds community to engage World Campus students;
- memorize the social media sites so that you are aware of how we relay information to students;
- review the student blog so that you can learn about World Campus and Continuing Education from a student perspective, and refer other students to this site;
- outline the midpoint and graduation motivator letters so that you have a better understanding of some of the encouraging correspondence that goes out to our students; and
- list the student clubs, organizations, and events so that you can refer students to them.
