In this lesson, the process for working with a roster of students is reviewed. The unit begins with new students and then follows the continuing student journey. At-risk students are discussed as well common questions and issues, academic reviews and graduating students.
Learning Objectives
After going through Lesson 16, advising staff will be able to:

recognize the intervention strategies for students with a poor academic history and/or those who experience academic difficulty;

understand the policies and procedures related to Academic Warning, Suspension and Dismissal;

define a Penn State DUSC student and recognize their challenges;

know the DUSC to degree or DUSC to nondegree-regular process;

identify appropriate transfer credit choices and alternative credit options for students;

access student progress and expectations by reviewing academic performance through the academic review process;

write an Academic Review using proper documentation and best practice procedures;
-
discuss academic strengths and weaknesses particularly in terms of Entrance-to-Major requirements;

recognize the Career Services appropriate for continuing students;

understand the Intent to Graduate process and purpose and;
-
explain the commencement and World Campus celebration programs.
