Click to view an academic requirements report example of a student who has transferred 56 credits of course work to the University. 11 credits are still in pending status, 15 credits are designated with a level status (ie; MGMT XFR 100) and the remaining 30 credits transferred as direct equivalent courses.

Several of the credits that fell into the elective area will fulfill degree requirements for this major as substitutions. It is the responsibility of the adviser to work with the Student Transfer Credit Specialist to make sure transfer credits are used to fulfill as many degree requirements as possible.

You will want to consult with the Course Catalog to determine what requirements transfer courses may fulfill. Look for a course similar to the transferred course. Sometimes courses will transfer in as direct equivalent courses to Penn State courses and they will often fall appropriately on the degree audit. For courses that transfer in as general credits, it may be easy to determine where they may go under general education.

For example, a 100 level transfer course in Biology would be indicated by XFRGN1.  The XFR is for Transfer, the GN is for the Natural Sciences requirement and the 1 is for 100 level.

A 200 level Sociology course that transfers in would be XFRGS2.  XFR for transfer, GS for Social and Behavioral Sciences and 2 for 200 level.

Until you are very familiar with the course offerings, you will want to look up all course titles and compare them to courses in the Course Catalog to see if they are similar to Penn State courses and what general education courses they would fulfill. Click on the course title or number to view how the class may apply to a program.

Below please review this Transfer Credit Equivalencies chart.

Transfer Credit Equivalencies

Direct Equivalency: An incoming course(s) is a direct equivalent to a PSU course(s)
