Elected Positions
President
- Serves as a general spokesperson for AEIR
- Organizes and presides at AEIR Board Meetings
- Works with various on-campus bureaucracies to keep AEIR and Camp Rhetoric up-to-date with university policies and practices for student organizations
- Arranges the logistics of Camp Rhetoric’s conference space
- Applies for UPAC funding for Camp Rhetoric or other major events with the help of the Vice President
Vice President
- Serves as liaison to students and faculty from other universities when inviting and arranging their visits to Camp Rhetoric
- Works with President to apply for UPAC funding for Camp Rhetoric or other major events
- Organizes social events throughout the academic year
- Assists the president and treasurer with other tasks on an as-needed basis
Treasurer
- Handles all organization finances
- Drafts budget for Camp Rhetoric or other major events
- Works with the ASA office to obtain checks, reimbursements, and purchase orders
Secretary
- Takes minutes at AEIR board meetings
- Serves as liaison to Penn State students and faculty when arranging their participation at Camp Rhetoric
- Archives paperwork
- Serves as liaison with the Rhetoric Society of America
Technology Coordinator
- Maintains AEIR’s website and Facebook page and publishes regular updates to them
- Updates and maintains the RHETNET listserv
Reading Group Coordinator
- Organizes (and traditionally hosts) monthly graduate student reading groups
Appointed Positions
First-Year Representatives from CAS and English
- Represent the interests of rhetoric MA or PhD students new to Penn State
- Apprentice with the Board to prepare for running for office in following years
