Inaugural Art+Feminism Wikistorming in the School of Visual Arts at Penn State University

Our Art+Feminism edit-a-thon at the Arts Cottage at Penn State on March 7, 2015, was a node in the gathering of 1500 participants in over 75 locations in 17 countries on four continents, creating an estimated 400 new articles and improving an estimated 500. Our group added an entry on Judy Chicago’s teaching and another on feminist curatorial practices. The inaugural event was sponsored by the College of Arts & Architecture and an Inspire Grant from the Wikimedia Foundation.

Penn State Art Education program with its dual-titled graduate degrees with the Women’s, Gender, & Sexuality Studies is one of the founding nodes of FemTechNet‘s (FTN) Distributed Open Collaborative Course (DOCC), in which the networked DOCC was already exploring wikistorming and developing resources for our DOCC.
