Born and raised in rural Pennsylvania, Jason’s work, teaching, and research has focused around the nexus community and environment. Jason served as Watershed Specialist with the Tioga County Conservation District, where he provided educational programming, research, and monitoring related to water quality and quantity, stream stability, nutrient management, and dairy herd management. Jason also worked for the State of Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation, where he permitted and inspected landfills before becoming State Project Manager for the Navy’s remediation of the former Adak Naval Air Station and statewide munitions response program advisor. Jason was also engaged with the social responsibility working group within IPIECA, the oil and gas industry’s organization focused on environmental and human rights issues. Jason ran a small custom woodworking business for a year and a half after his time with Shell.
