Michael Kern has been the Director of the Ruckelshaus Center since 2010; is an Associate Professor at Washington State University Extension; and a two-time University of Washington graduate, including a master’s degree in public administration from the Evans School of Public Policy and Governance. Michael has over twenty-five years of experience in helping diverse groups reach common ground on public policy issues in Washington and the Pacific Northwest. He provided oversight for the Ruckelshaus Center’s facilitation and coordination team for the Northwest Advanced Renewables Alliance, a five-year, $40 million multi-institutional grant funding by USDA NIFA AFRI-CAP program to overcome technical, economic, environmental, and social obstacles to establishing a wood-based biofuels supply chain in the Pacific Northwest.
