MMS 5- Demi Lovato ‘Stable’ After Suspected Heroin Overdose

I read an article called “Demi Lovato ‘Stable’ After Suspected Heroin Overdose”. On Tuesday, singer Demi Lovato was hospitalized in Los Angeles after a suspected heroin overdose. A source has claimed she is currently in “stable” condition. The Los Angeles Police Department responded to a medical emergency in the Hollywood hills. Law enforcement said they found Lovato unconscious and was treated with Narcan. Narcan is a medication designed to rapidly reverse opioid overdose — at her home before being transported to a local hospital.

The singer has struggled with substance abuse in the past for years. In June, Lovato revealed that she had relapsed just months after celebrating six years of sobriety. She has recently released a new hit song called “Sober” on her six album, including lyrics that say, “To the ones who never left me / We’ve been down this road before / I’m so sorry, I’m not sober anymore.”

In the past Demi has received treatment for bipolar disorder, bulimia, and substance abuse. She talked about these issues in the 2017 YouTube original documentary called “Simply Complicated”. In this documentary she revealed that she used cocaine while filming her 2012 documentary, “Stay Strong”.

When Lovato was younger, she began her acting career on the children’s series “Barney and Friends.” She also starred in Disney’s hit show, “Sonny With a Chance” and in 2008 was star of the Disney Channel Original Movie, “Camp Rock.”

Lovato had just preformed a concert in California this past Sunday. Her show in Atlantic City, New Jersey is set to take place on Thursday, however with the hospitalization it has been canceled. The news was followed by the cancellation of tonight’s episode of the Fox game show “Beat Shazam,” which featured an appearance by Lovato. This episode was taped in April 2017 and the director of the show stated, ““In light of recent reports, we have decided to replace the episode of ‘Beat Shazam’ with another all-new episode,” the network in a statement. “Our thoughts go out to Demi and her family.”

I chose this article because I am a Demi Lovato fan. I was shocked to hear the news that she overdosed since I thought she became sober. I have listened to her songs ever since I was little and I have even seen her in concert. Demi has a huge fan base and everyone is here to support her in hope she gets better soon.
