Spider-Man No Way Home: Bringing the Past, Present, and Future together

Spider-Man: No Way Home - 5 Burning Questions After the New Trailer - IGN

When Spider-Man: No Way Home hits theatres on December 17th, it will instantly become the blockbuster movie event to close 2021. This is because it will close the Tom Holland trilogy, add to the ongoing story of Spider-Man, and potentially even bring together three generations of Spidey fans. Let’s take a look at the excitement surrounding its premiere, and how many viewers are already piecing together parts of the movie.

When the teaser trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home dropped on YouTube, it broke the record for most views in 24 hours. It picked up a huge 355.5 million views in its first 24 hours on YouTube, beating the record held by Avengers: Endgame, which had garnered 289 million views in the same period in 2019. For fans of Toby Maguire’s Spider-Man, the trailer revealed a potential cameo for the old superhero. The main villain from Spider-Man 2, Doc Ock, has reprised his role in the franchise yet this time, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. How Spider-Man: No Way Home Changed Alfred Molina's Doc Ock Performance - Den of GeekOnce again played by Alfred Molina, the character faces off against Peter Parker before realizing he is fighting Tom Holland, not Toby Maguire. Even if you are a supporter of Andrew Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man, you are in luck. Electro, once again played by actor Jamie Foxx, was seen in a brand new suit in the teaser trailer. The combination of these villains, along with several others from the past leave viewers excited for what is to come, and potentially who is to come.

Marvel fans have patiently waited through the production delays of COVID-19 to see this movie. So how are they so sure that all 3 Spider-Man actors are in this movie? Well in order to prove their theories, they analyzed each and every trailer to find a rare Marvel mistake. However, in the Brazilian trailer of No Way Home, the mistake was found.Yes, Obviously Marvel Erased Two Spider-Men From The 'No Way Home' Trailer The shot in question is of Spider-Man leaping towards Lizard, Sandman, and Electro in a construction yard. However, the Brazilian trailer runs for around a second longer and shows Lizard being seemingly struck in the head by… something invisible. Fans are theorizing that both Maguire and Garfield were edited out of this soon-to-be iconic battle scene in order to create a surprise in theatres.

While Spider-Man: No Way Home may be the first and last time we see all three heroes on-screen together, it will not be the last of Tom Holland in the suit. Sony producer Amy Pascal recently confirmed in an interview with Fandango that Holland will return for a future trilogy of Spider-Man movies. Most importantly, these movies will remain in the MCU. “This is not the last movie that we are going to make with Marvel — [this is not] the last Spider-Man movie. We are getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel, it just isn’t part of… we’re thinking of this as three films, and now we’re going to go onto the next three. This is not the last of our MCU movies,” Pascal said. On December 17th, Holland will carry the torch of Spider-Man with the original web slingers by his side. It is sure to be a defining moment in the history of Marvel.
