“Color is the finishing touch on everything” – Marc Jacobs

As we continue to progress towards finishing our boat, we are starting to think about possible color schemes and names for our boat. The paint company we will be buying paints from is called “Kirby Paints” which specializes in marine paints that are meant for boats. This week we were prompted to explore “Kirby Paints” website and browse their paints for inspiration of what colors we could use for our boat. With our boat, there are three areas we can paint either all the same colors or different colors for each area. The areas that are able to be painted on the boat  are the deck (topside), the inside and the underside (bottom side). To generate my possible color schemes for our boat, I created a physical drawing in my journal first and then transferred it to a digital painting app called “Procreate” to test and add the colors together.

As I was thinking of possible color schemes, I kept in mind the idea of actual ducks to base off some of my ideas from such as the wood ducks, mallards and white ducks. I was also trying to experiment with the idea of possibly conveying the concept of sushi through sushi dishes such as spam natusbi which is a popular sushi inspired dish eaten throughout hawaii.
