PAS3: The Greatest Show (The Greatest Showman ost)

Hello, this is Alisia!

Today I brought another interesting song that everyone can enjoy! The Greatest show!

This song “The Greatest Show” is a soundtrack from the movie The Greatest Showman.

The movie The Greatest Showman “Hugh Jackman leads an all-star cast in this bold and original musical filled with infectious showstopping performances that will bring you to your feet time and time again.
Inspired by the story of P.T. Barnum (Jackman), the film follows the visionary who rose from nothing to create a mesmerizing spectacle.
This inspirational film also stars Zac Efron, Michelle Williams, Rebecca Ferguson, and Zendaya.”

I know that some people who learned American history will be unpleasant for the existence of P.T. Barnum, as he was violating human rights. But I would like to say that only the characters name used from Barnum, not the actual person’s life story.

As it is obvious that it will be an issue, when the movie was created, the whole life of Burnum in the movie has been rewritten from the start to the end. It would be more accurate to say that ‘some guys name is Burnam and became the greatest showman’.

Also, the movie more focuses on the performance and the songs than the plot itself (the plot is a very obvious success story)

From this, I don’t really give credits for the plot of the movie, but the performance, the actings, and most of all the song is incredible!!

I would love to recommend all the songs from the movie, but I would only introduce the high light song of the movie.

The song “The Greatest Show” comes out from the start and the end of the movie. It symbolizes the future what Barnum dreamed of and at the end, he created the Greatest Show on Earth that everyone could enjoy.

The lyrics show that Barnum (Hugh Jackman) created the most fascinating show in the world. It will steal people’s minds, give dreams, fantasies, and freedom, so don’t run away and enjoy the show.

The song starts with the ensembles shouting “woah,” and this makes you really excited and fascinated. By this, this part already became a trademark for this song that everyone remembers when it comes to this movie. Then Hugh Jackman starts singing in a low voice and then starts powerfully singing, it gave me great thrills wondering how he could sing so well even though he’s an actor. I know that Hugh Jackman was in musical movies as like “Les Miserable,” and his talent is already proven, but I couldn’t hold my amusement. And the harmony that is made with the ensembles and at the end Zac and Zendaya’s were beautiful.

Almost at the end, there’s a part where Hugh Jackman has a solo and that part is my favorite. I can’t really tell it why, but the melody of the song is very appealing to me.

Listening to this song, it is very appealing and exciting that it feels like I am also in the circus where animals, performers, and fireworks create a fascinating show. I hope all of you feel the same way I felt with this song and movie!
