Penn State Altoona Lion Ambassadors Mission Statement:
The purpose of the Lion Ambassadors shall be to represent Penn State Altoona to the
University, students, faculty, staff, and the alumni of the community. Lion Ambassadors at Penn State Altoona shall work to promote the University’s goals and interests as they operate out of the Office of Admissions. The Lion Ambassadors will communicate Penn State Altoona’s history & personality and strengthen the campuses and University traditions while instilling Penn State pride in current and future students, alumni and friends. This group of students will provide diverse experiences and input, seeing as they come from a variety of different regions of the world, different majors, and interests. Penn State Altoona Lion Ambassadors will share pride, enthusiasm, and commitment to the University with any and all involvements they may pursue.
The Penn State Altoona Lion Ambassadors participate in many events every semester. Our involvement is not limited to Penn State Altoona; we are also very active in the local community. Lion Ambassadors also host social events to encourage camaraderie within the organization.
Some of our activities include the following
- Giving weekly tours of the Penn State Altoona Campus to prospective, offered, and accepted students and their families. Each tour takes approximately one hour in length.
- Hosting charity events on campus to aid local charities
- Actively participating in both campus and community service projects
- Serving as tour guides for special guests and visitors
- Coordinating social events for students on the campus
- Participating in fundraising efforts for the organization
